ASSOCIATE DEVELOPMENT

Rasco Winter Thomas is a distinguished firm built on values we embrace sincerely.  Our associates are among the most talented and motivated of their business school class.  We expect and strive to see that every associate hired will mature professionally to full membership in the firm. To that end, each associate is assigned a member CPA as his or her mentor. The mentor monitors the associate’s practice and professional development. The associate receives periodic written critiques focusing on the associate’s strong points and areas for improvement. Concrete plans to remedy problems and achieve professional development are jointly agreed on and implemented by the mentor and associate. Associate isolation, stagnation, and the “sink or swim” mentality are not accepted as just “part of the practice” at Rasco Winter Thomas.  Mentorship provides that person to be a sounding board that’s been in your position before and also has made it to the next level.

Rasco Winter Thomas’ internship program offers accounting students the opportunity to experience the practice of accountancy in a challenging and enjoyable session.  Our intern associates rotate through both assurance and tax and work with advisors in all of the firm’s practice areas.  As opportunities arise, interns are exposed to preparing and reporting financial and assurance documents as well as conducting and presenting research projects and engaging in client relations. Each intern is assigned an accountant mentor who serves as a guide.  Social events allow the intern associates and firm team to get to know one another outside of the office.  Our goal is for our interns to develop a sense of accountancy advising and consulting as a profession and establish associates and lasting friendships within the field.
