History....

Rasco Winter Thomas Group was formed on July 1, 2018. To understand us is to understand each of the respective firms individually that make up the firms that are now the Rasco Winter Thomas Group.

Rasco Winter Abston Moore & Associates, LLP was formed in 1973 and has been serving clients with quality and excellence ever since. The goal has always been to combine the experience of a large firm with the personal attention that only a small firm can provide. We work to develop long term relationships, and truly believe that our success is a result of the success of our clients.

L. Cotton Thomas & Company is an Arkansas firm that began in 1964, when L. Cotton Thomas withdrew from the partnership of E. L. Gaunt & Company. The Firm has always been located in downtown Little Rock and prides itself on serving the overall accounting needs of both large and small entities.

Both firms have strived to develop long-term relationships with their clients and strive to provide services that add value to the business of their clients. Many clients of both firms have been long standing clients of each respective firm, a testament to the commitment of excellence of service each firm has traditionally provided.

Rasco Winter Thomas Groups provides audit and review services, as well as tax services, to a variety of clients. We also provide business valuation, accounting, management advisory and bond arbitrage services to our clients. Clients include professional service organizations, municipal governments, nonprofit organizations, employee benefit plans as well as entities engaged in transportation, manufacturing, construction, wholesale distribution, retailing, healthcare, and insurance.

Both firms have been a part of the AICPA Peer Review Program. Participation in this program requires the firm to have a "system review" performed of its accounting and auditing practice at least once every three years. The objectives of this review are to determine whether:

  • The firm's system of quality control has been designed in accordance with quality control standards established by the AICPA, and
  • The firm's quality control policies and procedures have been complied with.

The review team, consisting of principals in firms similar to ours, examines our policies, procedures, working papers, and reports. At the conclusion of their examination, they issue a report as to our adherence to technical and professional standards. We have attached the most recent "System Review Report" on our systems of quality control here.
